Martin Beckett

illustration of As an avid fan of JRR Tolkien I felt compelled to create a piece celebrating the start of the journey.
This is a tribute to The Hobbit and Peter Jackson's vision of the first book.
'If you are referring to the incident with the dragon, I was barely involved'.
illustration of I was approached by the Foyle Loughs Agency to create a poster explaining the life-cycle of the Atlantic Salmon; an amazing fish that travels thousands of miles only to come back to within meters of where it was born to spawn a new generation.
illustration of The two ravens Huginn (meaning thought) and Muininn (meaning memory) were sent down to Midgard by the Norse God Odin to bring him news from all over the world.
This image is my tribute to the beautiful country of Iceland, a place I will think about for years to come and have wonderful memories of. There is also a way-finder rune added in to the image in the hope that I will find my way back there some day.
illustration of This is a piece I completed for an exhibition, in Dublin.
The exhibition is called ‘Welcome to the Flock’, supporting immigrants, refugees, diversity and inclusion in Ireland.
illustration of Kelda is a story by Dolores Lyons based around the titular character 'Kelda', a viking girl whose family sails to Ireland. Along the way she befriends an Irish slave and gets sold as a slave herself. It is a story of friendship, love and adventure set among a background of war and intrigue.
I created the cover art (which needed to be used as a bookmark), and all 30 chapter headings.
illustration of Book cover illustration for 'The Silver Queen'; book two of the 'Sovereign' series written by the talented Josie Jaffrey, set in a dystopian Europe where vampiric Nobles control the last of the human race.
illustration of This image was created for crypto currency specialists Block Collider, the image represents a 'Transaction Miner' a sort of treasure hunter finding and optimizing the speed of transactions.
illustration of This image was done as a promotional piece for Poster Spy and AMC to celebrate season four of 'Fear The Walking Dead' and the inclusion of Morgan (played by Lennie James) as he makes his crossover from 'The Walking Dead' into 'Fear the Walking Dead'.
I wanted to convey the tension and drama of the show with its wide open desert spaces and the threat that people bring to the story, showing them as a mass horde, either zombies or people, but both deadly.
illustration of Part man, part machine, all cop!
This is my alternative movie poster celebrating Paul Verhoeven's amazing piece of science-fiction.
illustration of It has just gone 100 years since the end of the 'Great' war and lest we forget the lessons learnt and the losses suffered we must remember and honour all who fell.
This image is my small part of that, I hope you like it.

I have been working as an illustrator for over 15 years for the creative industry. My love of illustration and imagery stems from my love of movies but especially the movie posters of the 80s and 90s which still have a strong influence on my work. Like most creatives I have a strong imagination, cultivated on a diet of movies and books...lots of movies and an ever expanding library of books. I have two cats and two dogs, which I share my studio isn't a big studio...
