This editorial illustration was commissioned by The Collective Mag to accompany an article discussing acne and feelings of inadequacy in the digital age. The illustration and article aim to lift some of the stigma surrounding acne, myth-busting common misconceptions that people hold concerning the skin disorder and encouraging those who live with it to embrace their skin and believe in yourself.

Arachne the weaver challenges Athena to a weaving match. Athena smites her, turning her into a spider. Spiders' webs have since been used as the crosshairs in telescopes.

Profile

Imogen’s illustration uses tactile textures and a larger-than-life exaggeration of form to produce a fresh and truly unique take on the world. With a bold use of colour and perspective, every illustration has a dynamic rhythm to it, effortlessly drawing the eye and telling a story. Since earning a 1st Class Degree in Illustration, Imogen has gone on to work on a number of briefs, including: book covers, bespoke artwork for restaurants, and has a broad, playful portfolio on the subject of microbiology. Clients have noted Imogen’s imagination, visual wit and sensitivity when it comes to her Illustration and have commended her engagement and active interest in the briefs she tackles. Using her competency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Procreate Imogen brings the page alive, lending itself seamlessly to advertising, packaging, editorials and picture books.
