Huy was born in Cambodia and came to the US with her family as refugees. She grew up on the Upper West Side playing with the scrap papers her mother brought home from the office. Because of papers, Huy traded in crying for many quiet hours spent paper-cutting, doodling, and folding. Although she creates digitally nowadays, she always find a way to incorporate papers into her illustrations. She also find writing a joyful challenge.
