Biography

Thom Buchanan was trained as a combat artist in the Army and as an illustrator in a busy production studio, learning to be deadline efficient and quality effective, even while under fire, literally and figuratively. He has over 35 years experience as an artist and design professional—working with every artistic medium, for all communications media, creating commissioned portraits, illustrations, murals and fine art, world-wide. Nearly every imaginable subject has crossed his drawing table, but rendering people studies is a specialty of his. His pastel and charcoal portrait studies are celebrations of human dignity. He likes to be part of a professional creative team and loves the creative process of something great emerging from an ephemeral idea. Thom says, “I consider myself a ‘pictorialist’—a visual communications problem solver.”
