NYC Rooftop 1

illustration of Homeless On Blue is from a series of mixed media pieces reflecting on life on and in the streets of NYC. Using a limited palette of Nu-pastel and chalk I referenced sketches I had done previously and redrew them on large blue construction paper. This piece began the series-I decided that I would continue until the roll of paper was finished.
The series became a total of nine.
Next illustration of LabAids, a longtime client, commissioned me for numerous pieces of artwork for their educational lab kits. Distributed around the country for science classes, the assignments were always interesting and challenging. The Indian corn was drawn with colored pencil-the client provided me with four different pieces of corn to use as reference. It was important that I rendered them accurately-both for color and the number of colored kernels. This was for a genetic lab.
