NYC Water Tower 1

illustration of Fall Trail began my exploration of oil paint as applied to landscapes. With oil paints unsurpassed rich pigment and texture I was able to give the viewer a feeling of a colorful Fall day.
Upstate NY, where I have hiked many a trail, is my inspiration for many of my landscape drawings and paintings.
Next illustration of I chose Scratchboard to do a portrait of Albert Einstein. I love the intense drama that can be created by the white lines etched into the board that help define the hi lights  and shadows. The drawing began as a detailed pencil drawing, then art was transferred to the scratchboard where a transition of the drawing is done in reverse, where what was black is going to be white.
