Walking Dead

illustration of While living in NYC, I spent a lot of time sketching the people, streets, and buildings. My favorite street was St. Marks Place. A diverse population was always in the streets and pubs. Grassroots, my favorite pub is a place I sketched many patrons. Starting from my sketchbooks to larger drawing paper I redrew the compositions in marker and finished the artwork with Nu-pastel over the marker. Subtle color gave a distinct look to this drawing series. It also added emotion.
Next illustration of Liberty, Justice, and the American way used to stand for protecting the masses. I wanted to render a new version of the recognizable Lady Liberty in a more gothic style-including changing her sword for a double edge spear. The scale is balanced with skulls symbolizing humanities demise. The artwork began with a graphite drawing and was latter inked. The art was inked and colored with markers. An oil/acrylic painted background was created. Art was digitally composed.
