Profile
Justin Barker is an illustrator living in Bend, Oregon. He has degrees in graphic design from Peru State College and an MFA in studio art from the University of Georgia. Much of his early portfolio comes from working in the music industry creating apparel, album cover designs, and tour posters. Notable collaborations range from acclaimed Austin, TX songwriter Bob Schneider in which Justin created a graphic novel adapted from a musical stage production, and Nick Black a Microsoft developer who authored a satirical novel about runaway STEM malefactors. His work has appeared on shows such as CBS's The Big Bang Theory, MTV's Scream, and AMC's Preacher among others. His distinctive style blends the bold graphics of comic books and graphic novels with the precision of architectural renderings. Influences range from James Jean and Ed Hopper to Bernie Wrightson and Virgil Finlay. The resulting imagery resides comfortably and effectively between 2-dimensional graphics and convincing 3-dimensional spaces.
