Profile

Clients Include: Harper Collins, Harlequin, SOHO House, GLAMOUR, Focus on the Family, The Modern Green Book, (more to come) Shaniya’s subject matter consists of 3 things: conceptual illustrations, portraiture, and food. She finds joy in experimenting with all 3 of these using her skills with line, color, and texture. Shaniya Carrington is an African American digital illustrator from Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2021 with a BFA in Illustration. She was awarded the Black Illustrators award in her senior year that was hosted by renowned illustrator, Jason Raish. While in college she became a teacher’s assistant at Pratt Institute for the Pratt Young Scholars Program and the Saturday Art schools Program, where she continues to work to this day. Because she’s an alumnus of the program, she offers a unique insight to art and art techniques to teens who will soon be taking their next steps in higher education. After graduating, Shaniya went through a huge revision of her art style. She left her roots as a traditional, painterly rendered art style and adopted a graphic, line and texture-based art style as this new way of working helped her express her unique conceptual ideas. This is what she is known for today.
