This landscape painting depicts the prospects of summer held within boats in drydock.  Flashes of blue and yellow pinning down the hulls within a dreamy pink landscape. 
Story telling within this is a pink car in the distance where I parked up to watch two brilliant friends build a boat from scratch and to sell their house and sail off around Europe.

In a series of urban vistas routes and sidewalks through Munich, Germany between 1995-2005.

The strong and vibrancy of the colour reflects returning from Germany expressing the electric energy of being back in Cornwall.  The sea met and blended into the softer landscape. This painting was at the start of the Marine Series.

Profile

Julia Rowlands' successful international career began in Munich where she lived for 10 years exhibiting in numerous solo and group shows.  She lives in Falmouth and is based at Krowji artists studios in Redruth. Her work is predominantly oil paintings and oil pastels on paper of local landscapes, countryside, seascapes, trees and woodland, boats, harbours and cloudscapes. Selected for The Battle Contemporary Fine Art Fair 2010, she was awarded ‘Best Painting’. This selected exhibition had an esteemed board of judges chaired by CAV OMRI Romeo Di Girolamo PPRBA, supported by Megan Di Girolamo RBA RBS and Guy Portelli VPRBA RBS and for the judging, Polly Gifford, Head of Education at the iconic De La Warr Pavilion.
