Charles S. Pyle, a native Californian, attended Academy of Art College and began a freelance career based in San Francisco, CA. He discovered oil painting and changed his direction from pen, ink, and watercolor in the late seventies, and continues to this day to paint, in many media, both as an illustrator and a studio painter. His paintings have graced many book covers and are in many private and government collections. Lindgren & Smith has represented him since 1989. Pyle teaches drawing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he is the Chair of the Illustration program. His sweetheart of many years, Tina, puts up with his moods, and his stepchildren, Clarke and Lauren, celebrate him from afar.
