Fly into a cell nucleus as it starts to divide. The genomic information that is stored in chromosomes must be replicated, and the duplicated genome must be separated cleanly between cells. During mitosis the pairs of chromatids condense and attach to fibers that pull the sister chromatids to opposite sides of the cell.
