2017 marked the California State Fair’s 50th year at Sacramento’s Cal Expo fairgrounds since moving there from inside the city proper in 1968. To mark the occasion, UnCommon's Amber Witzke, who has worked as Art Director and designer on CSF branding the past several years) suggested we make a limited edition poster in the style of Disneyland’s classic attraction posters, specifically an homage to their classic and iconic Monorail poster.

The concept is that no matter how much one loves their hometown they also would like to see it blown up. The composition is bananas to that end, with a giant robot defending the arena from a fire breathing dragon while chaos rains down all around an the band continues playing inside. illustration of I designed and illustrated this poster for Foo Fighter's 2018 show in Milwaukee. As I was really into Tim Lapetino's Art of Atari book at the time I wanted to do something in the vein of a classic arcade game cabinet. I illustrated the band defending Milwaukee from demonic space invaders with the power of rock. Fun fact: 500 of these sold out at the show before the opener took the stage. Profile

I’m a multidisciplinary graphic designer based in Sacramento with over 20 years experience in agency work, publishing, digital and more. I've been fortunate to design and art direct apps, games, books, magazines, websites, gigposters, record covers, and I have even branded several large music festivals. My skills run the gamut from collage to photography to illustration with a heavy emphasis on color and typography. Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to do work for a wide array of clients from Amtrak to the California State Fair to Live Nation to Metallica to "Weird Al." I do a lot of different things: illustration, strategy, design, art direction, light front end development, motion graphics, you name it. What that means for you is that I've been on both sides and I understand and meet deadlines and spec targets and since I've had experience hiring illustrators I know what questions need to be asked to deliver what you need in a way you'll love.
