These happen to live with some stylized Dandelion seed heads, spotted leaves, and petal-like shapes. There is an abundance of wonderful public parks where I live and this collection reminds me of the hidden meadows we often stumble upon during our off-path explorations. illustration of This illustration required three hearts (but not of tissue), one inside the other. The outermost heart had to look as if an explosion had blown a hole in the center. Through the exploded opening a second heart would be visible inside, and this second heart would appear to be scratched open. The scratched opening would reveal a third heart, shattered. As the shards recede, we see a blue pearl from which light beams emanate, all indicating emotional distress and rebirth. (Kundalini Awakening)

The blue arrows represent cold air, red arrows are hot air, and the textured arrows are dirt and/or allergens. Dollar signs were placed in strategic places to suggest heating and cooling expense, and damage. Those were removed here to simplify the presentation.

illustration of In the early 2020's, we recovering from the breakdown of the industrial age in the U.S. The massive outsourcing to low cost countries and resulting down-sizing in work force have taken their toll. After battling a global pandemic we find ourselves facing a new reality, but what went up in smoke is now being reclaimed, repurposed, and rebuilt to meet the needs of the future. There is much to be done, but the gears are starting to turn again.

The curvy, whimsical, metallic tree was built piece by piece before being adorned with butterflies and antique buttons. The letters for PEACE are old typewriter keys.

Icy textures and embossed designs dwell under modern geometric patterns with multiple golden frames and wayward glitter. An exiting butterfly and entering ribbons indicate the holidays are nearing. The gold frames show the last bit of unfrozen water with a single drop, almost like a crystal ball revealing the past instead of the future. The edges are starting to freeze; there is no going back now.

This composition has an underlying newspaper theme, and while headlines can be compelling, art overpowers words.

illustration of Queen of Hearts is a whimsical version of the well known face card, but with an Renaissance feel and antique elements. She sports a jeweled headpiece, in a floral environment against a blue patterned wood panel, framed with a delicate metal caging over an antique wooden frame. The queen's hearts are shiny and golden. Mixed periods aside, the scene is flanked on the bottom by heavy metal eyelets with ribbon strung through them and on the top by my trademark rivets.

Illustration brings life to a subject like no photograph can. Concept and mood become malleable through color and style, while capturing a realism undeterred by surroundings. Surroundings, reflections, and shadows can be created to enhance the subject, creating a space uniquely its own. Photo-realistic illustration portrays the subject in a lifelike style that is removed from ambient distractions and camera distortion. Stylized illustration adds a mood, an attitude, while sporting a clean, simplified look. Linda Carruth has been illustrating detailed shiny objects for over 30 years. She uses mechanical drawing methods and traditional rendering techniques, utilizing today's digital tools. Linda also specializes in photo-illustration, using photographic pieces and bits of ephemera, blending them to bring concepts to life.
